Procedures
Registration:
There are no restrictions to register a .BE domain name.
If your .BE domain name is available, you can register it since you represent a company, an organisation or an individual. You don't have to live or to be based in Belgium.
Renewal:
Renewal procedures must be carried out before the domain's expiration date otherwise the domain will switch to quarantine status for a 40 days period before being removed. During this period, the domain is no longer active but can still be restored.
Change of registrar or change of ownership:
The procedure to transfer a .BE domain to another registrar and/or to a new owner is the same.
In order to initiate the transfer, you need to:
- have the authorization code, that you can get via your current registrar or directly via the registry DNS.be (whois page)
- ensure that domain protection is not activated with your current registrar
As soon as the transfer is initiated by FranceDNS, if the authorization code is valid and if the domain status is transferrable, the transfer will be completed within an hour.
Once the transfer is finalized, the domain's expiration date is extended for 1 year, starting at the transfer date.
